•Investigating allegations of theft, fraud, corruption, murder, torture, misconduct and other criminal related offences committed by members of the South African Police Services and Municipal Police Service;
•Setting and complying with time lines within which an investigation must be completed and compiling work plans;
•Identification of key persons in the investigation;
•Drawing detailed interview schedules and conducting interviews;
•Obtaining detailed witness and defendant’s statements
•Collecting and safeguarding evidence;
•Performing systematic analysis of evidence;
•Compiling Case Investigative Reports with criminal, disciplinary and systemic recommendations;
•Compiling dockets to be submitted to DPP for decision and Case files for information Management;
•Rendering of technical support to DPP and Public Prosecutors;
•Attending crime scenes and Conducting of search and seizures;
•Arranging and Attending Post-mortems & Exhumations (in particular cases)
•Extensive travelling;
•Subpoenaing the witnesses and summonsing the suspects
•Administrative duties such as updating of database system and submitting monthly statics reports;
•Continuous submission of progress reports on investigations performed and continuously reviewing the methodology/approach and changing it timeously
•Providing evidence during criminal and disciplinary proceeding;
•Continuous interaction with external and internal stakeholders;
•Providing guidance and advice to other Investigators.
