Chris Lamprecht is an Accredited Associate of the Institute for Independent Business consulting to the SME sector. Chris also consults in the mining industry focusing on mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence and project evaluations and financing. Chris was previously the Financial Director at a couple of South African mining companies, prior to which he managed the corporate finance and treasury departments at gold and platinum mining companies. Chris Lamprecht has worked in the precious metal South African mining industry for the past 20 years. He holds honors in Business Economics and a MBA.

Directed all areas of finance for 2 joint appointed mining investment companies primarily focused on exploration and exploitation of gold in South Africa. JCI possessed $370 million in assets and Randgold held $100 million. Managed financial functions, controls, and reporting against a backdrop of institutional shareholder forced joint appointments, discovery of fraudulent activities perpetuated by former CEO, cash flow constraints, and strongly divergent views among leadership regarding future company strategies. Held full accountability for publication of financial statements and statutory returns, corporate insurance programs, and outsourced IT contract and vendor relationships. Served as effective liaison with both external and forensic auditors. Reported financial results and forecasts to Board of Director.

Managed financial practices and controls for gold mining company with 50% joint venture with Placer Dome, Inc. which was eventually purchased by Goldfields Ltd, third largest gold company in the world. Scope of responsibilities including managing all financial aspects for company’s interest in South Deep, the joint venture with Placer Dome. Directed daily activities of 10-person team responsible for timely and accurate publication of financial statements, regulatory documents, and statutory returns, along with administration of organization’s insurance program and IT contracted services. Independently managed investor relations, hedge program, and interaction with financial institutions and external/internal auditors. Served as member of Board of Directors responsible for presenting quarter shareholders report, annual financial statements, future funding strategies for South Deep, corporate budget, and answers to audit committee on financial policies.

Managed financial functions for recently formed entity resulting from merger of 4 Anglovaal mining companies, producing over 1 million ounces of gold, translating to turnover of $400 million. Joined organization with primary responsibility of raising groundbreaking financing through international syndicated project finance facility, representing major change in financing South African mining transactions. Assumed management of 8-person team responsible for all facets of finance. Conducted numerous financial evaluations of merger and acquisition proposals in accordance with corporate growth objectives.
